Top things to do in Indianapolis

There's a lot of things to do in Indianapolis for everybody. Indy has plenty of restaurants, bars, attractions and sporting events to fit all kinds of people and ages.

Best Places to Eat

Downtown has St. Elmo Steak House, the award-winning steaks and their famous shrimp cocktail served since 1902. In addition, several upscale chain restaurants in the downtown area, including Oceanaire, one of the top rated seafood chains Country. McCormick & Schmick offers another alternative seafood. One of the newest additions to the downtown area is the Capital Grille. The food and service (along with prices) are above average.

In the northern part of the city you will find franchises including Morton's, The Cheesecake Factory and PF Chang's. There are also numerous, more local, restaurants Broad Ripple or Mass Ave. (Massachusetts Avenue) Arts District. Some eats to try are Bazbeaux Pizza, the restaurant has on the Messe-Allee, in the Broad Ripple, and in Carmel.

Museums and Attractions

The town also offers several museums and attractions, including the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. It is often rated the best in the country and updates the exhibits frequently. Also don't forget the Indianapolis Zoo, NCAA Hall of Champions, the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians & Western Art and the Indiana State Museum. During the summer, Conner Prairie is the place for outdoor concerts: Symphony on the Prairie and other large events are held. Of course, no visit to Indianapolis is complete without seeing the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum.

Family and Outdoor Things to Do

There are also many great opportunities for cycles and boat rentals. Beach cruisers and mountain bikes to four wheelers can be rented for the whole family. Bicycles can be rented at the Eagle Creek Park Marina and the White River State Park, and fun boats on Canal Walk and Eagle Creek Park Marina can be rented from Wheel Fun Rentals.

Finally, the city is also home to the a variety of sports teams and the "Greatest Spectacle in Car Racing" of the Indy 500, the Red Bull Indianapolis GP, NASCAR Brickyard 400 and the MAC Tools NHRA Nationals. Something for every sports fan to enjoy.

If you to have some time to get out of town, to the south, to artists' colony Nashville, visit campus of Indiana University in Bloomington, or motor north to Zionville the "village" to quaint shops and restaurants from a bygone era.
